Reconstruction of Glace Bay harbour
Reconstruction of the wharf in Glace Bay is underway, with a completion date of March 8.
Zutphen Contractor Inc. was awarded the tender for the wharf reconstruction project for $1,562,987.03 on July 27.
The work, to be completed within 32 weeks, includes replacing the deteriorated wharf with a new timber crib marginal wharf.
Zutphen Contractor was also awarded the tender for the harbor dredging project. The tender for $485,500 was awarded on Aug. 25 with a completion date of Feb. 28.
Other Cape Breton harbour projects announced at the time included: Bay St. Lawrence (construction of new steel sheet pilings), Big Bras d’Or (replacing a deteriorated timber deck), La Digue, Chéticamp (completing the construction of a breakwater and repairing a slipway), Dingwall (dredging the channel and basin), Grand étang (dredging the basin), Baxter’s Cover, Judique (dredging of the basin and channel), Little Harbour, L’Ardoise (dredging the basin and channel), Little River, Victoria County (replacing a deteriorated wharf) and Petit de Grat, (dredging the channel and basin).
