Mongla port expansion project gets contractor

Contractors have been appointed for three development projects including expansion and modernization of facilities at the Mongla port. Two other projects are Joydebpur-Ishwardi dual-gauge and double-line and conversion of Akhaura-Sylhet meter gauge railway to dual gauge.

The total cost of the expansion and modernisation of Mongla port facilities project is estimated at Tk4,393 crore. China National Complete Engineering has been appointed as consultant of the project.

The Mongla port facilities expansion project includes constructions of container terminal building, multi-storey car yard and container delivery yard. The cost of the Joydebpur-Ishwardi dual-gauge double-line project has been estimated at Tk7,296.46 crore. The project will be implemented by the China Civil Engineering Construction.

As per the government plan, implementation of these projects will be completed by the end of 2021.
