How to choose the right dock rubber fender
Rubber fender has the characteristics of low reaction force in ship collision, long service time and easy installation, and it is applicable for various types of dock. The various types and different forms make it difficult to choose in the process of design and selection. So we need to consider comprehensively from the ship type, force and economic aspects to choose the appropriate fender.
The rubber fender system selected should mainly meet the following basic requirements:
- Energy absorption of rubber fender system selected is higher than effective impact energy of ship;
- Reaction force of the rubber fender system should be lower than that allowed by ship’s berth building;
- Surface pressure of rubber fender should be lower than that allowed by the ship panel(To meet the requirements by adjusting the size of panel);
- When the ship is berthed diagonally, the ship will compress the rubber fender diagonally, resulting in the decrease of the energy absorption of most fenders, so when choosing fender, the performance should be reduced according to the angel of the berth.
- Rubber fender system selected should be easy to install, use and maintain;
- Rubber fender system selected should meet the special needs of complex environments (such as high temperature, strong wind, large waves, etc.) and abnormal berthing;
- Rubber fender system selected should be high-performance, economical, maintenance-free, or low-maintenance rate, that is, the lowest cost is the best in the whole process of investment, use, and maintenance of the fender system.
