How to choose the appropriate drilling method of DD fenders?
Date:2024-08-13
DD Fender is a protective device specifically designed to absorb impact energy when ships berth, and is widely used in ports, docks, and ships. Depending on the installation requirements of different projects, the drilling methods for DD fenders are mainly divided into vertical drilling and side drilling.
Vertical drilling
Vertical drilling as the name implies, refers to the drilling method perpendicular to the surface of the fender, the direction of the holes is vertical to the installation surface of the fender. The upper hole is usually larger than the lower hole to facilitate the installation of bolts. This drilling method is primarily used on fixed structures such as docks and port walls. It is characterized by simple installation, precise positioning, and the ability to effectively secure the fender in the predetermined position.
Side drilling
Side drilling typically refers to drilling along the side of the fender. It is mainly used for securing the fender to the structure of the ship. Through side drilling, the fender can fit more closely to the ship’s hull, providing more effective protection.
