RO-RO ship is a ship that allows cargo to be loaded and unloaded in a ro-ro manner. According to the type of cargo loaded, it can be divided into the following categories, including container RO-RO cargo, RO-RO cargo, Vehicles-RoRo and Passenger/RoRo Cargo.
Container RoRo Cargo and RoRo Cargo:
They are all loaded and unloaded in the way of “rolling up and down”, mainly carrying containers or general cargo, and the shipping capacity is usually measured by the number of TEUs loaded in containers or the number of vehicles or the length of the lane.
Vehicles – RoRo:
It is an RO-RO ship mainly carrying commodity cars, and its carrying capacity is measured in units of standard cars (CEU). Vehicles – RoRo are divided into two categories: PCC (Pure Car Carrier) and PCTC (Pure Car Truck Carrier). PCC is loaded with pure cars, and PCTC is loaded with cars and trucks.
Passenger/RoRo Cargo:
It is mainly used to transport passengers, and at the same time, it also ships some vehicles, containers, or other sundry goods, etc. It is a multi-functional RO-RO ship type. Carrying capacity is measured by the number of passengers carried and the number of TEUs that can be shipped or the number of vehicles or the length of the lane. It is suitable for operations on offshore routes.
