Barge carrier can usually be divided into four categories, among which the more commonly used barge ships are mainly Lighter Aboard Ship (abbreviated as LASH) and SEABEE.
LASH
The LASH type barge carrier, also known as ordinary barge, is the most commonly used barge. Single-layer deck, no double-layer paper, compartment structure in the cabin, each barge can be stacked with four layers of sub-barges, and two layers can be stacked on the deck. In order to facilitate the loading of the barge, rails are set along both sides of the deck, and a gantry crane that can move longitudinally along the rails is used to lift the barge into and out of the cargo hold.
SEABEE
Also known as the sea bee type barge, it is a double-sided, double-bottom, multi-deck ship. A track for transporting sub-barges is arranged longitudinally on the deck, and an elevator shaft and an elevator platform (elevator) are arranged at the tail, and its lifting capacity can reach 2,000 tons.
BACAT
Its ship type is characterized by a single bow, double body, and double tail (the tail is in the form of a dovetail), so it is also called a double-hull barge. The loading and unloading method is the same as that of the SEABEE. The upper deck of the ship can carry 8-10 BACAT; in the tunnel between the double hulls, 3 LASH can be tied and towed, and the total number of barges loaded is 13. It is a small ship with low power and low speed.
