Container throughput at U.S. West Coast ports plummets
According to the latest data, the container throughput of the two major gateway ports on the west coast of the United States, the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach, dropped significantly in October.
The container throughput of Long Beach Port in October reached 658,400 TEU, a year-on-year decrease of 16.6%, and the throughput of Los Angeles Port reached 678,400 TEU in October, a year-on-year decrease of 25%.
Due to the continuous decline in the cargo throughput of the two major ports on the west coast, the number one port in the United States has been replaced.
Since August this year, the ports of New York and New Jersey in the eastern United States have become the largest ports in the United States. The Port of New York and New Jersey handled 792,500 TEUs in October, up 19% year-on-year.
