Concrete Project at Low Water Wharf

L.D. Kerns Contractors was awarded a $170,293 contract at the April meeting of the City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority. It will carry out the concrete project to rehabilitate the low-water wharf at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa.

The project includes removing and replacing about 9,300 square feet of existing concrete. Crushed stone covers an adjoining area of about 4,800 square feet that is also to be removed and replaced with high-strength reinforced concrete about a foot thick.

The wharf — also known as a roll on-roll off wharf — is about 35 feet lower than the port’s main wharf. It is the only facility of its type along the 450-mile Arkansas Waterway that allows a barge to berth at deck level with the pier.

The work is to be scheduled to have a minimum impact on private industry, and substantial completion is expected within 60 days.
