Mylor Yacht Harbour announces £1million marina expansion

A £1million investment to extend a marina in Carrick Roads has been unveiled. Mylor Yacht Harbour (MYH) has started a consultation into the project.

This is a small and sensitive extension to its existing marina, which will provide additional berths for 30 boats.

Formal and informal consultation is currently taking place ahead of a formal planning application being submitted to Cornwall Council.

The company said the expansion would “meet customer demand whilst supporting the future sustainability of the harbour, the related services and the associated employment it provides”.

Managing director Neil Salter said any expansion would retain all the factors which make it the Cornish jewel it is today – attracting sailors and other visitors from Cornwall and across the world.

MYH has initially approached Truro and Penryn Harbour Authority, Cornwall Council, Natural England, the Environment Agency, the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Office and the Marine Management Organisation for advice and guidance on the process and to ensure that all environmental and other legislative requirements are met prior to submitting a formal planning application.
