Damen Awards Dutch Contract
Damen Shipyards Group recently has signed a contract with the Netherlands-based dredging company Heuvelman Ibis to assist in the operations of a canal dredging project.
The delivery consists of a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 350 and 2 Booster Stations (BS) 350. Heuvelman Ibis will initially put the dredger to use on the planned canal dredging project, set to take place in the province of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands.
Heuvelman Ibis selected a Damen CSD 350 to undertake the dredging project, which covers the extraction of approximately 220,000m3 of sediment from the Winschoterdiep canal.
This heavy duty dredger design is a standardized vessel that Damen builds in series and keeps on stock in order to ensure a fast delivery.
The two company have cooperated several times in the past and always keep excellent relationship. Heuvelman Ibis has every confidence in Damen’s capabilities, not only to deliver a reliable vessel, but also to deliver ongoing service and assistance. At the same time, Damen is looking forward to working on making this dredger to the client’s exact requirements and to continuing collaboration following the handover in Q2 2017.
