Ports America announces an agreement on Port of Sydney

Ports America and Sydney Harbour Investment Partners (SHIP) have announced an agreement for the promotion, development and management of Novaporte, the marine container facility in the Port of Sydney, Nova Scotia.

SHIP has the rights to approximately 500 acres in the Port of Sydney and will build a dedicated, semi-automated, deep – water marine container facility capable of handling 18,000+ TEU vessels. It would be capable of handling the largest container ships in the world.

Construction work is expected to take approximately two years to complete. Ports America will manage and operate the Novaporte terminal for 40 years and provide services such as labour management, and the maintenance and repair of the Sydney Harbour Investment Partners facility.

Sydney Harbour Investment Partners was established specifically to develop and market Novaporte, the Port of Sydney’s new deepwater container terminal and adjacent logistics park, Novazone.
