How to install tugboat cylindrical fenders on the boat?
As a high-performance protective device, tugboat cylindrical fenders are widely used on the bow and stern of tugboats and workboats. Their flexible cylindrical design allows them to adapt to vessels of various sizes and tonnages, making them an essential component of modern marine operations. These fenders are generally categorized into two types: straight cylindrical fenders and tapered-end rubber fenders.
For tugboats and workboats operating at sea, selecting the suitable size and length of tugboat cylindrical fenders is essential. Equally important is their proper installation to ensure effectiveness and longevity. Here are two effective installation methods as following:
Small fenders (diameter ≤ 500mm)
Pass a longitudinal chain through center bore of fender and secure it using buckles to keep the fender firmly in place.
Large fenders (diameter > 500mm)
Installed by longitudinal chains, with supplementary slings or chains recessed into grooves on the fender surface to provide additional stability.
